Student Expectations
Written Work
Grade seven students are expected to hand in work that is neatly and carefully completed. Cursive handwriting should be used for most assignments. Blue or black pen is preferred for good copy assignments, but pencil will be accepted for most informal assignments. Pencil is required for Math and any diagrams or sketches.
Planners
Planners are an effective tool for communication between home and school. Your child will be filling out his/her planner daily and should be bringing it home for you to sign. All homework assignments and reminders will be recorded in the planner. Should you wish to communicate with Mr. Colp, you may write him a note in the planner.
Homework
Generally students should expect to spend on average forty-five minutes to one hour per night on homework. Students are expected to manage their work so that they do not leave multi-day assignments until the night before. If your child has much more than one hour per night on average, please let Mr. Colp know.
Test Preparation
Students will have one week's notice for unit tests in Math, Science, Social Studies, and HACE. Outlines of the format and content of these tests will be given several days in advance of each test. The textbook will usually be very helpful in preparing for Math and Science while class review assignments should be the focus of HACE and Social Studies studying. Small section quizzes in Math will be given a day or two after that section has been completed.
